A Community of Generosity

South Bay Junior Academy is based on the philosophy of educating the whole child; creating in students, a passion for life-long learning, a desire for excellence, development of spirituality and integrity and the ability to apply all of these to the world around them. It is through this philosophy that binds all people associated with the school – students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, former parents, grandparents and friends, into what we call, the South Bay Junior Academy community.

fundraiserIt is our goal to implement a sustainable giving program through our two fundraisers per year and through the ongoing efforts of the “Beacon Project”. These programs help the students of today enjoy the high quality education South Bay Junior Academy has offered for the past 50 plus years and perpetuates the legacy for generations to come.

We are grateful for your generosity and willingness to share the vision South Bay Junior Academy has and your support to continue to help us keep the edge in education we have for the next 50 years.

At South Bay Junior Academy, there are two annual fundraising activities that involve our community along with The Beacon Project:

1. Fall Magazine Sale

All proceeds from the magazine sale go to support the individual classroom wish-list. Teachers use the funds for classroom enrichment, field trips and special items not addressed in the school budget.

2. Spring Jog-A-Thon

Funds are compiled from the entire student body, and are used for school-wide projects determined by the needs of faculty and staff. In the past, the Spring Jog-A-Thon has supported the purchase of: A P.E. shed and equipment, musical instruments, technology upgrades, sun shades, the Accelerated Reader program and campus safety supplies. Each year a new needs list is generated and the goal is to raise enough money to fund these needs/wants.

In addition, during the winter and spring musical a “love offering” is collected to help support the music program and expenses associated with the production of these musicals. 

South Bay Junior Academy hosts two musical productions performed by students and faculty of the school. During intermission this “love offering” is taken to collect donations to support the music program. All proceeds go directly to fund the needs of the music program such as the purchase of instruments, sheet music, costumes, audio visual equipment, lighting, backdrops and other necessities.
